What the terms mean

With a full truck (dedicated vehicle), the truck carries only your goods and drives straight to your new city. With a part load, your goods share a truck with other customers' consignments going the same way. Part loads are common on busy routes such as Delhi to Mumbai, Bangalore, Kolkata and Patna.

How they compare

Part loadFull truck
CostLower; you pay for the space you useHigher; you pay for the whole truck
Transit timeLonger; the truck waits to fill and makes several stopsShortest; straight to your door
HandlingMore, as goods may be moved between vehicles or at a hubLeast; loaded once, unloaded once
Best for1 RK, 1 BHK, a few items, flexible dates2 BHK and larger, fragile items, fixed dates

How to choose

If you are moving a single room or a 1 BHK and can wait a few extra days, a part load is the economical choice. Packing quality matters more in a part load, because your goods may be handled more often. For a 2 BHK or more, a family move with children, or anything you cannot be without for long, a full truck is usually worth the extra cost.
